  • Snooker - spin shots

    Is there a trick to playing shots with spin? How come I can't bend or swerve the cue ball like Trump or the Rocket?

    I can get a bit of side on especially when coming off the rails but top and in particular backspin is really hard to develop. Is spin one of those 'pay to win' features?

    Spin on Snooker isn't as accurate as it could be, you have to hit it with some beef sometime to achieve a decent spin but often lose control of the white completely, once you've played it long enough you'll know what spin is achievable in each area of the table and each individual scenario

      Better spin can be achieved by buying a better cue. Nephrite Dragon gives you 75% spin back and 50% spin forward, Aim advantage 25%.
      Next best is, Darkness Touch, gives you 50% spin back and 50% spin forward, Aim advantage 20%.
      If you want more spin back or spin forward, buy a better cue.

        There is no difference in follow or draw spin, Nephrite is 75% spin all faces of the cue ball. Any more spin and it would be counterproductive, as you would not be able to strike the ball with any impact. Which is quite realistic to the real game.

          Hi Nick;

          yes, you can swerve the cueball. Next to the spin cueball bottom right is another cuetip and cueball. You can raise the butt of the cue and put side on to swerve the cueball.

          There's a video link in this post:

            A video demo I made last year, the actual shot is at the end of the video. It's generally referred to as a Masse shot
